Charge Nurse
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Charge Nurse to join our long-term care team. The Charge Nurse will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our residents and ensuring that our facility operates smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strong nursing background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership to the nursing staff on your assigned shift.
- Oversee the delivery of care to residents, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality and is in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update resident care plans.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor residents for any adverse reactions.
- Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration and resident response.
- Perform assessments of residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records and documentation.
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
- Provide guidance and support to ensure proper care is delivered.
- Respond to emergencies, assess the situation, and take appropriate action to ensure resident safety.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed in emergency situations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, helping to identify and implement best practices.
- Ensure that infection control protocols are followed diligently.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Report changes in resident conditions to the appropriate parties.
- Maintain a strong understanding of all relevant regulations and ensure compliance within your area of responsibility.
- Assist in the preparation for and participation in regulatory surveys and inspections.
Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- CPR certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with 5 years in long-term care preferred.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of geriatric nursing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Understanding of and commitment to resident-centered care.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
