Warehouse Operator

Job Summary The Warehouse Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently handling liquid and dry chemical products, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout all warehouse and transfer operations. This hands‑on role involves loading and unloading trucks, tankers, and railcars; operating forklifts and other industrial equipment; repackaging and labeling materials; and maintaining precise inventory records. Responsibilities Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars. Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses. Climb tanks, tankers, and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load. Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations. Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages. Conduct product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel. Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs and record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program. Pick and stage product for delivery in accordance with customer orders or other instructions. Operate powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product in the warehouse and maintain a daily forklift checklist. Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse. Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment. Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations, ensuring proper labeling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to company and regulatory requirements. Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food‑grade and USP items. Operate electronic scale and process devices. Carefully store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations. Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage, rearrange stored materials, and assist in counting of physical inventory. Ensure the warehouse is clean, accessible, and safe for all visitors and workers; report and clean up spills immediately; protect property from theft or damage. Perform other duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma, GED, or US military experience. (Prior 2+ years of experience in chemical operations may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.) Forklift operator certification or ability to pass the exam and demonstrate safe operation. Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English; ability to write simple correspondence. Basic arithmetic skills – add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Familiarity with technology‑based devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, PLCs, and operational technology equipment to carry out normal business operations. Compliance with company safety procedures, placarding rules for truck loading/unloading, and hazardous waste regulations. Participation in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and trainings. Work availability on any day of the week, any assigned 8‑12 hour shift, and willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed. Good safety and attendance record; ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel; ability to observe, follow and enforce all company policies and procedures. Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background check, E‑Verify check, and be capable of attaining a TWIC card for MTSA facilities (if applicable). No supervisory responsibilities. Physical Requirements Pass company physical and training requirements, including wearing personal protective equipment such as respirator. Perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of material. Utilize tools and equipment as necessary. Stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 95% of the day. Operate standing and sit‑down forklifts, pallet jacks, and drum pickers. Climb stairs and ladders to the top of tanks, tankers, and railcars. Frequently exposed to outside weather (from 10% to 75% of the time), sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
