Senior Manager, Defense Public Relations (Remote)

What You Will Do Support public relations activities within the Defense portfolio of RTX across Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon. Create and execute strategic public‑relations and media plans that support business priorities, including space solutions, missile defense, resilient communications, command and control, and all‑domain solutions. Engage with and pitch relevant members of the media, develop new relationships with reporters, and identify new story ideas. Draft briefing documents, press releases, and other media content; manage crisis communications and prepare statements and response strategies when necessary. Secure strategic earned media and ensure critical business and campaign messages are communicated with the right outlets. Maintain and develop relationships with defense and niche trade media, staying current on news cycles and reporting risks and opportunities to the PR team and executives. Train relevant leaders and spokespeople for media engagements, including interviews, press briefings, Q&A sessions, and press releases. Manage, develop, pitch, and oversee company media engagements across the supported portfolios, coordinating with COEs and ensuring alignment on messaging and crisis plans. Project‑manage collaborations across the communications team, delivering projects on time and within scope while meeting tight deadlines. Take a data‑driven approach by collaborating with analytics to develop meaningful metrics and leverage analytics to improve ROI on channel efforts. Other duties as assigned by leadership. Qualifications University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience. Knowledge of, and experience in, the aerospace and defense industry. Exceptional written, verbal, and social communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills with a strong executive presence and experience in executive coaching or development. Attention to detail, complete staff work, sense of urgency, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. Advanced ability to interface with all levels of employees, leadership, and external organizations. Proven success working effectively in cross‑functional teams, independently managing time and resources, organizing priorities across multiple projects, and meeting tight deadlines. Agility and adaptability to changes in direction. Strong understanding of Associated Press writing style. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a deadline‑driven environment. Communications and marketing analysis skills, including the use of data for impact. Self‑starter with natural curiosity and a drive to investigate details and complete deliverables.
