Network Operations Center Engineer

Location: Omaha, NE (Onsite – 5 Days a Week) We are looking for a NOC Engineer / Network Engineer to support mission-critical network operations in a fully onsite, incident-management-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have strong networking fundamentals, NOC/operations experience, troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with routers, switches, WAN/ISP connectivity, Linux, telecom, and microwave communications. Responsibilities Monitor and support network operations from a NOC environment, responding to incidents, alerts, outages, and service-impacting events. Troubleshoot network connectivity, routing, switching, and core network protocol issues. Configure, administer, and maintain routers, switches, and related network infrastructure. Coordinate with telecom vendors, ISPs, utility providers, and internal teams to resolve connectivity and service issues. Provide initial triage and escalation for microwave radio communications issues. Manage incidents through identification, prioritization, documentation, escalation, and resolution tracking. Utilize Linux system administration knowledge to support network-related systems and operational tools. Communicate clearly during active incidents and provide timely status updates. Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, incident records, and knowledge articles. Support mission-critical environments where reliability and responsiveness are essential. Participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity across network operations. Required Skills Network administration, configuration, and troubleshooting. Network outage and service-impacting incident support. Vendor and stakeholder coordination. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work onsite on a fixed 2nd or 3rd shift. Ability to work Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday. Microwave radio communications experience. Railroad technology experience. Train operations systems. Positive Train Control (PTC). Centralized Traffic Control (CTC). Transportation infrastructure. Utility network operations. Telecom infrastructure. Mission-critical network environments.
