Department Information Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the people's unit, GTHR is engaged throughout the employee's lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in the management of complex employee issues. Professionalism and confidence are of the utmost importance within our team. What we do :- Process payroll and maintain employment data for approximately 14,000 active faculty, staff, and students. Strive to attract, recruit, and retain the best talent in the marketplace.
- Provide immigration, labor, and tax support required for foreign national faculty and staff to work at Georgia Tech and support employees performing services overseas.
- Leverage a market-driven compensation structure to attract and retain employees.
- Advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management.
- Define and maintain job structures by evaluating roles to ensure accurate job titles, levels, and classifications aligned with organizational needs, governance requirements, and market context.
- Establish and manage market-driven salary structures that support talent attraction and retention while maintaining internal consistency and alignment with Georgia Tech and University System of Georgia requirements.
- Support talent attraction and retention by applying competitive, sustainable, and data-informed compensation practices.
- Monitor parity and compression to identify pay concerns and inform data-driven recommendations.
- Advise leaders, managers, and employees on job classification and compensation practices.
Job Summary
The Advanced Classification and Compensation Analyst provides professional-level expertise and analytical support for job classification and compensation decisions. This role conducts job analysis and evaluation, supports job documentation and career-level placement, and performs market pricing and survey-based analysis to inform pay positioning. The Advanced Analyst supports compensation program administration and the annual salary planning cycle by preparing tools and templates, maintaining data integrity in Institute systems, and producing rigorous analytics and reporting. Working under general direction and established practices, the Advanced Analyst partners with Human Resources Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and unit stakeholders to deliver timely, well-documented recommendations and customer support. This position contributes to training and program rollouts and may lead discrete workstreams (for example, survey submissions, market pricing projects, or targeted analytics) while not having formal people management responsibilities or Institute-wide program ownership.
Responsibilities Job Duty 1 Provide classification and compensation consulting support for assigned client groups by responding to inquiries, gathering requirements, and preparing recommendations consistent with established guidelines and practices. Job Duty 2 Conduct job analyses and support job evaluation and leveling by collecting and synthesizing information from managers and employees; recommend appropriate classification outcomes supported by documentation. Job Duty 3 Review, draft, and update job descriptions to ensure accurate representation of duties, scope, and required qualifications; partner with stakeholders to validate job content and organizational context. Job Duty 4 Conduct compensation surveys and market pricing activities, including job matching, survey submission preparation, survey interpretation, and development of market pricing recommendations supported by clear rationale. Job Duty 5 Build, develop, and maintain salary survey resources and market pricing files (for example, job matching libraries, survey calendars, and submission documentation) to strengthen consistency and audit readiness. Job Duty 6 Perform rigorous analytics on pay data (for example, pay progression trends, internal alignment diagnostics,compa-ratio reporting, and targeted assessments) and translate findings into clear, decision-support outputs. Job Duty 7 Support salary planning tools and the annual compensation cycle by developing and distributing planning templates, validating calculations, and providing training and ongoing assistance to Human Resources partners and managers. Job Duty 8 Review and process pay actions (for example, new hires, promotions, transfers, retention actions, and other pay changes) by applying established practices and documenting recommendations; escalate exceptions as appropriate. Job Duty 9 Maintain and validate compensation and classification data in Institute systems and planning tools; support testing/validation of updates; troubleshoot workflow issues; and improve standard work and documentation. Job Duty 10 Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications Educational Requirements : Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Required Experience:
- Typically 4+ years of relevant professional experience in compensation and/or classification work with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Experience supporting compensation surveys, market pricing, and pay analysis in a complex organization.
- Experience developing analytics, dashboards, or reporting that supports leader or manager decision-making.
- Experience supporting salary planning tools, templates, and end-to-end annual compensation cycle activities.
- Experience developing and delivering training materials or facilitating sessions for managers or Human Resources partners.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Requirements: Master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Additional Preferred Requirements: Professional certification: Certified Compensation Professional, Professional in Human Resources, SHRM Certified Professional, or similar.
Proposed Salary
Salary: Up to $85,000/yr.

- Knowledge of compensation surveys, market pricing, job matching, and survey interpretation.
- Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulations related to classification and compensation (including wage and hour considerations).
- Skill in quantitative analysis, spreadsheet modeling, and producing accurate, well-documented outputs.
- Skill in building and maintaining survey and market pricing materials and translating data into recommendations.
- Skill in using systems and tools to maintain data integrity and support salary planning workflows.
- Skill in developing and delivering training, job aids, and clear guidance for stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and escalate risks or exceptions appropriately.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and provide responsive customer support.
- Ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines and apply consistent documentation practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and cross-functional partners to support program implementation.
