Special Education Teacher

Philadelphia Montessori Charter School (PMCS) is seeking a certified Special Education Teacher to support children in grades Kindergarten to Fourth Grade.

Position Summary:

Philadelphia Montessori Charter School (PMCS) Special Education Teachers are responsible for providing support to students with special needs, in a Montessori learning environment serving K- 4. They create and/or modify lessons and instructional materials to meet students needs. PMCS teachers have a strong foundation for educational interventions and implementing a variety of evidence based behavioral interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities:

* Manage caseload of students, to ensure full implementation of student IEPs, monitor student progress, support student programming
* Participation in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPwriter), Progress Reports, and other documentation requirements
* Maintain accurate and up to date student records, track student progress and use the data to inform teaching to support IEP Goals
* Collaborate in grade level teams to discuss student work, regarding progress, needs, and/or concerns around student needs
* Engage families in their student's education by building relationships and maintaining regular communication, including IEP Meetings, Report Cards
* Collaboration and Implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans and recording in information systems
* Respond positively and effectively to challenges with a solutions-oriented resiliency
* Other duties as assigned by school administration

Education and Experience

* Pennsylvania Certification in Special Education Teacher
* Valid Pennsylvania state clearances and credentials
* Compliance with federal, state, and school regulations and policies for special education teachers
* Minimum of 2 years' experience working in special education environments with students who may have academic, social, behavioral, and emotional needs
* Knowledge of Autism and sensory needs, preferred
* Maintain confidentiality

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
