A day in this role

You arrive, check the maintenance queue, and sync with the Maintenance Manager or Senior Maintenance Technician. The morning is dedicated to preventive maintenance on major plant assets—inspecting drives, lubricating bearings, checking electrical connections, and validating safety interlocks. Midday brings a challenge: a piece of production equipment shows a fault. You pull the schematic, trace the issue with a digital multimeter (DMM), and isolate the problem in the power transmission assembly. By afternoon, you’re capturing after‑action notes, tidying the work area to 5S standards, and coordinating parts replenishment so the next job starts on time. If the season calls for it, you’ll conduct facility checks—even during non‑standard hours—to keep operations stable.

What you’ll tackle

• Execute scheduled PMs on major plant equipment to drive uptime and reliability.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems.
• Handle breakdowns, perform equipment changeovers, and complete benchwork (rebuilds, cleaning, operational checks).
• Interpret technical manuals, specifications, shop drawings, and schematics to get to root cause quickly.
• Conduct seasonal maintenance and facility equipment checks, including during non‑standard work hours when needed.

Safety and quality first

• Follow all safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements—every task, every time.
• Operate material‑handling equipment safely (pallet jacks, lift trucks, jib/gantry cranes) and use man lifts appropriately.
• Apply proper technique with hand and power tools; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Complete inspections, documentation, and in‑process quality checks with precision.

Teamwork and communication

• Keep the Maintenance Manager, Senior Maintenance Technician, production teams, and the Shift Manager informed of machine status.
• Mentor junior mechanics and support cross‑functional collaboration to meet daily priorities and project milestones.

Continuous improvement mindset

• Use basic LEAN and 5S principles to streamline work and reduce waste.
• Support sustainability initiatives that reduce energy consumption and material waste.
• Document procedures and accurate after‑action reports; maintain robust maintenance records.
• Replenish and stage parts, tools, and consumables to keep work flowing.

Facilities support

Pitch in on facility upkeep such as painting, drywall touch‑ups, and minor plumbing repairs to keep the site running smoothly.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance or related industrial mechanical experience.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical and electrical systems; comfortable with a DMM and reading wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Math proficiency, including fractional and decimal calculations.
• Ability to locate and use digital documents, instructions, and forms.
• Flexible, adaptable, and an effective verbal communicator.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication tools and equipment—lasers, press brakes, thermoforming, robotics—is a plus.

Working conditions

• Standing and walking for up to 90% of the shift.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs .
• Tasks at ground level, at elevation, and within confined spaces.
• Exposure to manufacturing noise, temperature swings, and occasional outdoor work.
• Ability to work any shift; regular overtime, including weekends, is expected.
