Duties

Major duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Protects computer data from unauthorized release or loss
• Enters and retrieves patient and specimen data via the computer system
• Participates in continuing medical education and keeps abreast of current technology
• Builds and generates daily phlebotomy collection lists and labels, separating by appointment schedule times
• Inspects specimens to determine suitability or appropriateness for the test requested
• Organizes day-to-day work-flow and resolves minor complaints and/or problems
• Prepares and packages tests for shipment
• Accurately identifies patients and specimens and collects the proper type blood specimen for a variety of laboratory tests from both inpatients and outpatients as needed
• Performs and distributes laboratory specimens to all laboratory sections in the prescribed manner within established guidelines

Work Schedule: 7:00am - 3:30pm, Rotating weekends and holidays
