DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will focus on maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles and equipment used in daily transportation operations. The work supports safe, reliable performance of engines, systems, and tools across the fleet. As a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Repair: Perform repairs on vehicles and machinery by replacing parts, fixing systems, and completing mechanical adjustments
- Preventative Care: Carry out routine maintenance on engines, systems, and equipment to reduce wear and prevent breakdowns
- System Diagnostics: Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and methods to determine effective repair steps
- Safety Inspections: Conduct official state inspections, perform required repairs, and document findings and results accurately
- Workplace Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all required safety procedures and protective measures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. Travel, overtime, and shift work may be required.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program; or
- Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License.
- This position requires possession of an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations on the first day of employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) within the probationary period.
Additional Requirements:
- Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
- This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
