Infusion Nurse

Job Description GENERAL SUMMARY: The Infusion Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients and their support team in an infusion setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Correctly identifies the patient for infusion Inserts and monitors IV catheters Collects routine lab specimens Maintains equipment to be used with patients Assesses patients throughout the infusion for adverse reactions to the medication Documents medications, vital signs, and side effects in the medical record Educates self, staff, and patient family regarding all infusion medications and premeds Responds appropriately to side effects, adverse reactions, or anaphylaxis during infusion Obtains and maintains chemo certification Evaluates and manages patients within the infusion process through the use of nursing process Collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and other members of the healthcare team Communicates patient history, current assessment findings, status, and response to care Provides education to patients, patient’s support team, and peers REQUIRED SKILLS: Must possess a wide range of clinical nursing skills. Must be able to provide appropriate clinical treatment as directed by physician for specific diagnosis. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Four-year degree in the practice and study of nursing. 2-5 years of experience working as a nurse in a clinical setting. OFFICE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS: Provide impeccable documentation by accurately documenting the ongoing treatment history of the patient. This may be in written and/or via computer and/or computer laptop. Must be comfortable with use of computer for charting such information. Excellent keyboarding skills is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
