Associate Principal Software Engineer

Becton Dickinson seeks an Associate Principal Software Engineer to serve as Platform Technology Architect for the UCC product portfolio. The role involves defining multi-generation software and connectivity strategy across device families, establishing architectural principles, and ensuring reusable solutions across embedded software, security, wireless connectivity, and device-cloud integration. Success requires cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, regulatory, and cybersecurity teams to prioritize improvements and align roadmaps with product releases.
Responsibilities
- Own software and connectivity capability roadmap across embedded, GUI, operating systems, security, wireless, and diagnostics domains
- Define maturity progression steps and align roadmap to product release schedules across UCC platforms
- Establish software architecture principles, modularity strategy, cybersecurity guardrails, and reuse models
- Serve as technical authority for software and connectivity changes including architecture reviews and pre-launch assessments
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate roadmap into product design implementations and governance approvals
Requirements
- BS/MS in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- 10+ years embedded software or medical device software development experience
- Experience with regulated product development and IEC 62304 standards
- Expertise in embedded systems architecture, operating systems, and real-time behavior
- Knowledge of product security, threat modeling, and secure boot/update strategies
- Proficiency with wireless connectivity protocols including Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet
