Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in providing exceptional care to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in both Pediatric and Adult emergency nursing, with the ability to float between different areas within the emergency department as needed.

Shift and Scheduling

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Evening and Night shifts available
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per month
• Holiday Requirement: Expected to work holidays unless scheduled off
• Flexibility in scheduling is essential as block scheduling is not available

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Emergency Room
• Total Beds: 36 treatment areas in the Adult ER; 12 treatment areas in the Pediatric ER
• Average Patient Volume: Approximately 325 visits per day across both ERs
• Bed Ratios:
  • ICU: 1:2
  • Pediatrics: 1:4
  • Adults: 1:4
  • Procedural Sedation: 1:1
• ED RNs manage their own patient holds
• In-house security is available

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room experience required
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS Certification
  • NIHSS
  • PALS
• Significant Pediatric ER experience for those floating to the Peds ER
• Experience with triage required

Responsibilities

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse will deliver critical care to patients presenting with various diagnoses, ranging from minor injuries to severe, life-threatening conditions. Responsibilities include:

• Performing rapid assessments and appropriate interventions
• Managing a diverse patient population, including pediatric and adult patients
• Ensuring clear communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Administering medication and documenting care accurately

Technology and Equipment

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner
• Utilization of advanced respiratory therapy equipment, including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen
• Collaboration with respiratory therapists for ABGs and breathing treatments

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs required; no hoodies or sweatshirts permitted
• Floating: Must be willing to float to the Pediatric ER
• No first-time travelers or duo teams accepted
