- You will monitor and control the water treatment process that include, chemical addition, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, chlorination, filtration, pH control, and fluoridation.
- You will analyze present and anticipated raw water quality, evaluate test results, and change chemical feed rates, filtration rates, and other parameters to keep operations within established limits.
- You will maintain water system storage capacity by monitoring water tank elevations, and coordinating filtration rates.
- You will control the operation of the raw water pumps when required to match plant operations to meet the treatment demand.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position is considered Key. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- Must possess and maintain an appropriate Virginia State Water Treatment Plant Operator Class I or II certification by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and government driver's license at all times for this position. Government driver's license training will be provided by the government.
- Emergency recall and overtime may be required.
- Must be able to safely and properly wear all personal protective equipment including respiratory protection (respirator) required of the trade/shop.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
