We are a small, privately owned general dental practice in the Suntree/Melbourne area looking for a Dental Assistant who has a solid foundation in basic dental assisting and is eager to continue learning and developing their clinical skills.

New dental assisting graduates are welcome to apply. Previous dental office experience is preferred, but it is not required .

We are happy to train the right person on our procedures, materials, office systems, and the doctor's preferred way of working. However, we are looking for someone who already has the basic clinical knowledge expected from dental assisting training , including taking dental X-rays, infection control and sterilization, basic chairside assisting, and familiarity with common dental instruments and terminology.

We are not a high-volume corporate office. We focus on providing quality dentistry, taking good care of our patients, and creating an organized clinical environment where the doctor and assistant can work well together.

What You'll Do

Your main responsibility will be helping the doctor and clinical team keep the patient day running smoothly.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Taking diagnostic-quality dental X-rays
• Preparing and setting up treatment rooms
• Cleaning and turning over operatories between patients
• Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and following proper infection-control protocols
• Polishing teeth as part of patient care
• Chairside assisting during restorative procedures
• Assisting with crowns and bridges
• Assisting with extractions and other surgical procedures
• Preparing instruments and materials before procedures
• Keeping operatories stocked, clean, and organized
• Helping maintain clinical inventory and supplies
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
• Communicating professionally and kindly with patients
• Learning our procedure setups, materials, systems, and the doctor's clinical preferences
• Helping the doctor and clinical team stay organized and on schedule

What We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

• Have completed or are completing a dental assisting program, or have equivalent basic dental assisting training
• Understand basic dental terminology and common dental instruments
• Have basic training and are comfortable taking dental X-rays, including bitewings and periapical images
• Understand proper instrument cleaning, sterilization, and infection-control procedures
• Have a basic understanding of chairside assisting
• Learn quickly and are willing to ask questions
• Are dependable and consistently arrive on time
• Are organized and pay attention to details
• Can follow systems, instructions, and checklists
• Are comfortable receiving feedback and continuing to improve
• Take initiative and notice what needs to be done
• Treat patients and coworkers with professionalism and respect
• Want to continue developing your clinical skills and grow with a small dental practice

Previous dental assisting experience is preferred, but not required.

We are especially interested in someone who has the right foundation, attitude, and willingness to learn. We will train the right candidate.

Schedule

This is a full-time position averaging 32–36 hours per week.

Tuesday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
No evenings

We have morning huddles and team meetings because communication, preparation, and teamwork are important to how our office operates.

Compensation

$20–$28/hour , depending on experience and demonstrated clinical ability.

Compensation can grow as your skills, responsibilities, and contribution to the practice grow.

This position offers a consistent four-day workweek in a small, privately owned dental practice. It may be an especially good opportunity for a newer dental assistant who wants to continue developing their clinical skills, work closely with one doctor, and become an important part of the clinical team.
