Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit is responsible for providing care to patients requiring intermediate level of monitoring and nursing care. The RN will collaborate with healthcare team members, perform assessments, and administer treatments as required. The role demands strong critical thinking skills and proficiency with specialized equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide intermediate level of nursing care for patients in the Progressive Care Unit.
• Assess patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare team members for optimal care delivery.
• Administer and monitor treatment and medications.
• Manage and care for patients with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and other specialized care needs.
• Float to ICU and all inpatient units as needed, including Med/surge, Med/tele, Acute/tele, and ED.
• Conduct own consults and manage codes independently.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience.
• Proficiency in use of BiPAP, management of chest tubes and PICC lines, and drawing labs.
• Open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 experience with pacer wires is preferred.
• Current KS RN or Compact RN License.
• BLS, ACLS, & NIH certifications required.
• Must be comfortable without a vascular access team.
• Able to work every other weekend as scheduled.
