The PolisherThe Polisher is responsible for preparing and finishing exhaust components to meet S&S Cycle's quality and appearance standards. This role performs polishing operations to achieve consistent, high-quality metal finishes. The Polisher follows production schedules, inspects parts for defects, and maintains equipment to ensure smooth workflow and superior final products within the exhaust manufacturing process.Essential FunctionsThoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategyPresent and maintain positive morale amongst employeesGrinds, buffs and finishes parts and materialsDemonstrated use of hand tools and powered hand tools such as sanders, grinders, etc.Use of manual fixtures / beltersObserve and inspect parts to ensure specifications are metPerform all hand polishing/buffing operations on products using abrasive belts, buffs, compounds, and greases to attain the required cosmetic and blueprints specifications on the product.Qualifications1+ year(s) of experience in belting, polishing and buffing of various shaped steel, aluminum and stainless-steel partsExperience with working on back stands and other belting machinesClear understanding of different finishes and use of belts and buffs to produce various finishesFlexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standardsWell organized and self-directedExperience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is a plus.Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashionWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsWill be required to perform job duties in a manufacturing production environmentWhile performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklift trafficThe noise level is moderate, and some production areas may require hearing protection in accordance with OSHA requirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms above shoulders, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouchFrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassistedSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perceptionMust comply with safety and PPE standards, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed shoesValue Assessment TargetsAdaptability & Flexibility ProficientCommitment & Initiative ProficientCommunication & Interpersonal Skills ProficientCustomer Focus ProficientDecision Making Ability & Judgment ProficientHonesty & Integrity ProficientLeadership & Teamwork ProficientPerformance: Quality & Quantity General UnderstandingProfessionalism & Attitude ProficientVision & Innovation General UnderstandingPosition IdentificationHourlyPosition Code - 2MRA Job Code - 61321EEO Classification – Operatives
