Process Engineering Technician – Westborough, MA (6-month contract) Responsibilities Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the manufacturing site Perform assigned duties under the supervision of project managers and engineers Serve as a technical resource for capital projects within the process engineering team Install, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing systems and production equipment Support automated material handling systems, conveyance equipment, packaging machines, and labeling systems Troubleshoot and maintain controls components including sensors, scanners, relays, motor starters, solenoids, servo drives, encoders, and frequency inverters Use diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and vendor debugging tools to identify and resolve issues Troubleshoot PLCs, ladder logic, and controls systems Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs Interpret schematics and engineering drawings to create process documentation and work instructions Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and safety Collaborate with engineering, science, product, and manufacturing teams in a fast‑paced production environment Analyze equipment installation practices and recommend process improvements Perform basic to intermediate fabrication and machine modifications using shop equipment and hand tools Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance in manufacturing, R&D, or facility environments Strong knowledge of PLC‑based controls systems; Allen Bradley/Rockwell experience preferred Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems Ability to document startup processes and equipment designs for production systems Experience multitasking and prioritizing multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer/data entry tasks Knowledge of safe working practices around electrical and moving equipment Physical ability to climb ladders and lift up to 35 lbs Experience using machine shop equipment such as drill presses, saws, mills, lathes, and hand tools Proficiency with handheld power tools Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, building, and maintaining manufacturing equipment Formal trade certification or electrical contractor license Experience with robotic programming platforms such as Fanuc, ABB, or Kuka Fabrication and machining experience in a development or prototype environment Ability to troubleshoot using CAD files and engineering software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD Experience modifying and maintaining PLC/PC controllers, servo drives, motor control systems, and frequency drives Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles including 5S and Kaizen Experience with quality control and production data collection systems Pay Range The pay rate for this position is between $38.16 and $43.16 per hour.
