Grocery Stocker

Overview Part‑time position at Good Food Store in Missoula, MT. Responsibilities include stocking, customer service, receiving, recyclables, cleaning, department maintenance and other duties as assigned. Schedule notes and compensation are described in the posting. Responsibilities Stock shelves fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves; rotate older stock to the front and make space for new stock; pull out of date or low‑quality items and follow procedures for recording and disposing of them; label items with price tags and codes; report price and product discrepancies to buyers; maintain stocking lists; notify buyers of out‑of‑stocks; take inventories of department stock as requested; work and organize back stock; process necessary shrink items. Customer Service: assist customers with product questions in a prompt, friendly manner; offer informed suggestions for purchases and how to use products; help customers place special orders. Receiving: prepare storage areas for deliveries; check deliveries for piece count and damage; notify buyer of discrepancies; assist with unloading; sign for deliveries and route invoices; set aside special orders and notify customer service; expedite getting out‑of‑stock items on the floor; rotate back stock into storage; notify appropriate departments of incoming product. Recycling/Reusables: collect, sort and deposit store recycling; maintain, label and reset recycling bins; rotate reusable bins; sort and distribute reusable items; label and stock clean containers; inspect, clean and sanitize usable container donations. Cleaning: vacuum, wipe and dust bulk area; clean bulk bins, shelves and coolers as directed; maintain a clean work area and assist in backroom cleaning; close the store by cleaning areas and items per checklist or supervisor guidance. Department Maintenance: keep shelves, coolers, bins and back stock clean and orderly; remove trash, sweep and mop floors; maintain supplies; use equipment safely; report equipment problems; participate in periodic inventory and follow safe working practices. Other Responsibilities: attend stocking department and storewide meetings; bag and assist front end as necessary; answer and route phone calls; perform other tasks assigned by Shift Lead, Stocking and Receiving Manager or MOD. Qualifications Education/Training: High School education or GED preferred, but not required. Experience: Customer service experience and familiarity with natural foods and products preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Ability to follow instructions well. Attendance: Regular, predictable attendance. Other: Ability to work closely with others; must be 18 years of age or older. Essential Functions / Tasks — Physical: Vision; ability to read product labels; distinguish color for quality control; hearing; sense of smell; gripping and lifting 25–35 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds occasionally; stooping, squatting, pushing/pulling up to 200 pounds frequently and 500 pounds on occasion; kneeling, climbing, bending, reaching overhead and to the front; operate equipment safely; carry objects up to 25–35 pounds; standing for extended periods; work in cold environments such as coolers and freezers; other physical Demands as listed by supervisor.
