Job Overview:
As a Instructional Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students to provide essential support in educational settings for the upcoming 2026/2027 School Year.  This role will primarily be focused on working with students with significant behavior challenges, predominantly in Moderate-to-Severe classrooms, typically 1:1.  Your main responsibilities will include supporting teachers in delivering instructional activities, offering individualized attention to students, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

This role is crucial for promoting the academic, social, and emotional development of all students, especially those with diverse learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to positively impact children's lives and contribute to their academic and social development.

Responsibilities:

• Support Classroom Instruction
• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and resources
• Facilitate small group or individual instruction under the direction of the teacher
• Reinforce learning concepts through guided practice and activities.
• Student Assistance
• Ability to Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
• Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs or learning difficulties
• Assist students in understanding and completing assignments
• Offer encouragement and positive reinforcement to promote student engagement and motivation
• Behavioral Support
• Implement behavior management strategies as directed by the teacher or BCBA
• Help implement educational programs and IEP goals.
• Monitor student behavior and intervene to maintain a productive learning environment
• Foster positive social interactions among students
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to address the diverse needs of students
• Participate in team meetings and provide input on student progress and strategies for improvement
• Assist with clerical tasks such as record-keeping, grading, and organizing instructional materials
• Prepare and maintain classroom displays and bulletin boards
• Help with the supervision of students during transitions, lunch, and other non-instructional times

Job Details:

• Monday- Friday (School Hours)
• 6-7 hour shifts
• Start Date: 26/27 School Year

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of instructional techniques and strategies for diverse learners.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting the educational development of students.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and meet any other requirements set by the school or district.
