About the Role: Provide quality and engaging instruction in all delivery methods and formats within the Accounting and Business Administration program; provide timely and meaningful feedback to students regarding the mastery of course and program learning outcomes; engage students outside of class in support of the curriculum and co-curriculum; provide institutional support and community service; participate meaningfully in student retention and completion initiatives; support the College's mission and strategic plan initiatives; and conform to campus expectations of faculty performance and engagement.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
INSTRUCTION
- Deliver assigned Accounting courses using instructional pedagogy and technology that best support student learning and in accordance with College loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.
- Develop, revise, and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials that alignwith course objectives and Accounting program learning outcomes.
- Teach a variety of Accounting courses, which may include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Payroll Accounting, Individual Taxation, Corporate Taxation, Cost Accounting, Auditing, Accounting Information Systems, Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, and other Accounting-related courses.
- Utilize current accounting software, educational technology, and instructional resources to enhance student learning.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and required
documentation. - Manage aclassroom environment conducive to student learning while adhering to federal, state, and College safety standards and practices.
- Facilitate student achievement of expected course and program learning outcomes.
- Use the College's Learning Management System (Canvas) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, communication, and student engagement.
- Incorporate current accounting standards, regulations, professional ethics, and industry best practices into instruction.
RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS
- Provide academic coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees
- in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
- Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including the use of advising alerts and early intervention technology.
- Provide appropriate interventions including communication with students, referrals to tutoring services, academic support resources, and other College services.
- Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with Campus expectations and the faculty loading policy outlined in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM).
- Promote student recruitment, retention, persistence, graduation, and successful completion of Accounting programs.
- Support students in exploring transfer opportunities, CPA pathways, industry certifications, and accounting career opportunities.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Participate in professional development activities including scheduled training, industry engagement, conferences, workshops, certifications, and self-study to maintain current instructional and technical knowledge.
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting principles, Generally Accepted
- Accounting Principles (GAAP), taxation, auditing, accounting technologies, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Participate in scholarly activities related to Accounting in fulfillment of annual performance plans and professional credential requirements.
- Remain current in contemporary instructional practices, digital technologies, and emerging accounting software utilized by business and industry.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND BUSINESS OUTREACH
- Participate in community service activities that strengthen relationships between the College and its service area.
- Develop partnerships with businesses, accounting firms, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and industry professionals to support internships, experiential learning, advisory committees, and workforce development.
- Collaborate with community partners to promote Accounting education and career pathways.
INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT
- Provide institutional support through participation on committees, task forces, accreditation activities, assessment initiatives, and grant-funded projects.
- Support Corporate College and Ivy Tech Foundation initiatives.
- Attend commencement ceremonies and participate as assigned by regional administration.
- Participate in College-wide, campus, departmental, divisional, and faculty
- meetings.
- Participate in career services, alumni engagement, recruitment activities, and community outreach events.
- Assist the Department Chair with program planning, curriculum review, scheduling, assessment, advisory committees, and other program management activities.
- Adhere to College policies, regional academic procedures, accreditation requirements, and faculty expectations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to Accounting instruction, including Learning Management Systems, Microsoft Office applications, accounting software, and instructional technology.
- Must meet faculty credential requirements as outlined in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 07.01.00) for Accounting faculty.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A qualified faculty member in Accounting meets the program standard through one of the following routes:
1. Possesses an earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Accounting;
OR
2. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with documented 18 graduate semester credit hours in Accounting beyond the introductory principles level;
OR
3. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in two or more of the following:
- In-field professional certification (national, regional, or state), such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or other recognized accounting credential.
- Three years of in-field professional employment in Accounting or a closely related profession.
- Documented evidence of teaching excellence.
- Documentation of research and publication in the Accounting field.
- Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, continuing education units (CEUs), vendor training, or military training.
OR
4. Possesses an earned bachelor's degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in two or more of the following:
- In-field professional certification (CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE, or equivalent).
- Two years of professional Accounting experience.
- Documented evidence of teaching excellence.
- Documentation of research and publication in the Accounting field.
- Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor training, or military training.
OR
5. Possesses an earned bachelor's degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
Business Administration Credentialed Options
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A qualified faculty member in Business Administration meets the program standard through one of four routes:
1. Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, business education, public administration, management, marketing, or a business- administration-related field as appropriate to the program);
OR
2. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 post-secondary semester /27 quarter credit hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or a business- administration-related field as appropriate to the program;
OR
3. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
- or In-field national, regional, or state professional certification (does not include teaching license or certificate)
- or Three years of in-field professional employment in the industry (teaching in the area is not considered in-field professional employment).
- or Documentation of research and publication in the field
- or Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree, equivalent to 15 semester/22 quarter credit hours 0 equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU's, vendor, or military training.
OR
4. Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or a business- administration-related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following:
Preferred candidates will also possess:
- Prior college-level teaching experience.
- Experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
- Experience using Canvas or another Learning Management System.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or other enterprise accounting systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and continuous improvement.

SALARY & CONTRACT
- This position is on a nine-month academic year contract. Additional contracts for the summer months may be available, dependent on enrollment.
- The salary for this position at an F2 rank is $45,000 for a nine-month contract.
