Histotechnician

Labcorp seeks a Histotechnician in Shelton, Connecticut to process tissue and body fluid specimens and prepare histopathological slides for microscopic examination. The role involves operating laboratory equipment, performing staining procedures, and ensuring quality control in a high-volume diagnostic setting.
Responsibilities
- Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination
- Section embedded tissue using microtome and mount sections on microscope slides
- Perform immunohistochemical tests and routine staining procedures on tissue sections
- Operate and maintain manual and automated laboratory instruments with preventive maintenance
- Record test results accurately and document equipment logs and quality control procedures
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Histology or related biological/chemical science
- Minimum 1 year histology experience in clinical lab (within past 5 years) or completed certification program
- Ability to pass color blindness test
- Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems
- Physical capability to handle position demands and work evening shifts
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills
Compensation: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour + shift differential; $7,500 sign-on bonus for external candidates
