Job Title: Stain Line Operator Job Description

The Stain Line Operator runs water-based stain equipment to finish wood products with consistent, high-quality color. This role focuses on setting up and adjusting spray machines, interpreting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and sorting wood by color to achieve precise color matching in a fast-paced production environment.

• Operate water-based stain equipment and spray guns to finish wood products according to production requirements.
• Read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and safety.
• Set up spray machines for proper color blend and molding type, including adjusting spray guns and related settings.
• Sort wood by color to ensure accurate color matching and uniform appearance across finished products.
• Perform basic measurements and calculations to support precision in spraying, painting, and paint system setup.
• Monitor stain application quality, making adjustments as needed to maintain both color and coverage standards.
• Handle and work with paint and stain materials using precision measuring techniques and mathematical skills (such as board footage and lineal footage calculations).
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal teams, including research and development and outside vendors, to address process and product needs.
• Apply strong attention to detail to detect color variations, finish defects, and equipment issues promptly.
• Operate machinery and equipment safely, following all safety guidelines and wearing required protective gear.
• Maintain productivity in a quality- and quantity-driven production environment, meeting output and quality targets.
• Lift materials up to 25 lbs and stand for the entire shift while working on the stain line.
• Demonstrate strong work ethic and respect for the gravity of operating in a high-value, million-dollar work center.
• Assist with basic mechanical adjustments and minor troubleshooting of spray equipment as needed.
• Help maintain a clean and organized work area in a woodworking and occasionally dusty environment.

• Ability to operate stain line equipment and spray guns in a production environment.
• Ability to understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Previous spray painting or staining experience.
• Experience working with paint systems and painting processes.
• Basic understanding of math and measurements, including board footage and lineal footage calculations.
• Mechanical aptitude or prior machine operating experience.
• Ability to perform color matching accurately and not be color blind.
• Ability to stand for the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Detail-oriented approach to work and quality control.
• Strong work ethic in a production environment.
• Good communication skills for working with research and development teams and outside vendors.

• Background in painting or spray painting in an industrial or woodworking setting.
• Woodworking experience or familiarity with wood products and finishes.
• Experience with precision measuring tools and techniques in a paint or finishing environment.
• Comfort working with paint and stain materials in a high-volume production setting.
• Mechanically inclined and able to perform basic equipment adjustments.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, quality- and quantity-driven environment.

This role is based in a woodworking production facility that can be hot in the summer and cool in the winter. The environment is occasionally dusty due to wood processing, and safety glasses are provided and required. Employees stand for the entire shift, lift up to 25 lbs, and work in a fast-paced setting focused on both quality and quantity. The role involves working with paint, stain, and spray equipment in a million-dollar work center, requiring consistent attention to safety and process. Typical attire includes jeans and a t-shirt, along with required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Berlin, PA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in East Berlin,PA.
