Backend Engineer

To modernize a mission-critical legacy system for international security cooperation, the full-time remote Everything Engineer with a Backend focus will manage the development of domain services, external interfaces, and financial-grade correctness while utilizing agentic AI tools in a collaborative environment. Key responsibilities Develop and maintain domain services in TypeScript/Node behind a REST API, ensuring compliance with federal financial standards Conduct business-rule archaeology to extract and reimplement legacy system rules, ensuring accuracy and parity through rigorous testing Collaborate with team members to build and integrate external interfaces with various partner systems, using a contract-first approach Required qualifications US citizenship and eligibility for a US SECRET clearance 7+ years of experience building and operating production web systems Strong background in server-side and domain-model development Hands-on experience with agentic AI development tools (Codex and/or Claude Code) on real codebases Fluency in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security fundamentals
