AZ law firm seeking a full-time Associate Attorney - Probate & Trust Administration

A focused Arizona law practice is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing team. The firm exclusively handles post-death probate and trust administration matters, primarily serving clients throughout Mohave and La Paz Counties.

This position is well suited for an attorney with limited probate experience who is interested in developing a focused practice, as well as an experienced probate attorney ready to take ownership of a caseload. The attorney will have the opportunity to work on matters from initial administration through resolution while helping families navigate complex legal and administrative issues during a difficult time.

The position offers remote, hybrid, or in-office flexibility, with an office located in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Qualifications

• Active membership in the Arizona State Bar and in good standing.

• Probate or trust administration experience preferred, but candidates with limited experience and a strong interest in developing this practice area are encouraged to apply.

• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Sound judgment and exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and in plain English.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient and compassionate approach to working with clients and families.

• Highly organized, dependable, and able to follow through on deadlines and case responsibilities.

• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Google Drive, PDF tools, and other legal technology.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted legal tools is a plus, with an understanding that the attorney remains responsible for the accuracy and quality of all work product.

• Litigation experience is a plus but is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle probate and post-death trust administration matters from opening through closing.

• Draft and review petitions, notices, correspondence, and other probate and trust administration documents.

• Advise personal representatives, trustees, beneficiaries, and other interested parties regarding their legal responsibilities and obligations.

• Address creditor claims, asset-related issues, distributions, deadlines, and other administration matters.

• Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, beneficiaries, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.

• Identify legal issues and develop practical solutions to resolve complications as they arise.

• Work collaboratively with paralegals and other team members while reviewing work product for accuracy and completeness.

• Manage case files, deadlines, and workflow to ensure matters progress efficiently.

• Depending on experience and interest, assist with or independently handle contested matters, hearings, and court appearances.

Experience Level

The firm welcomes attorneys at different stages of their careers. Less experienced attorneys should have a strong legal foundation, demonstrate initiative, and be eager to learn probate and trust administration. More experienced attorneys should be comfortable managing matters with increasing independence and taking ownership of an active caseload.
