IT Support Technician (Desktop & Field Support)

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and technically inclined IT Support Technician to join our IT department. This position will provide desktop, remote, and on-site technical support across a large, multi-location organization operating convenience stores, fuel distribution facilities, and restaurant locations.

The ideal candidate is a resourceful problem-solver who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new technologies, and working directly with people. Support will be provided through phone calls, email, remote access tools, and in-person visits to company locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to employees and remote locations via phone, email, remote access, and in-person support.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, printers, peripherals, and other IT hardware.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, and other business software.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot preconfigured routers, switches, firewalls, and APs
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity, VPNs, VLANs
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot surveillance systems, including IP cameras, NVRs, and related equipment.
• Support point-of-sale (POS) systems and peripherals.
• Assist with the administration of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and other enterprise applications.
• Respond to support requests promptly, communicate clearly with end users, and provide timely follow-up through resolution.
• Assist with IT infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and technology improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate documentation of IT assets, configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and completed work.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
• Participation in rotational weekend on-call schedule
• Travel to company locations, generally within a two-hour radius of Morgantown, WV, to provide on-site technical support; company vehicle provided.

Qualifications

Required:

• Proficiency in computer hardware, Windows operating systems, and common business software.
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computers, printers, peripherals, and software applications.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general Windows administration.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs
• Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to systematically troubleshoot technical problems.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Comfortable working directly with employees of varying technical abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple support requests, and follow through on issues until resolution.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to company locations.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred:

• Professional IT experience in desktop support, field support, help desk, or a similar technical role.
• Experience installing or maintaining IP surveillance cameras and NVR systems.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
• Working knowledge of Linux systems
• Familiarity with SonicWall, pfSense, or similar firewall platforms.
• Experience configuring managed switches, VLANs, and network connectivity.
• Experience supporting Verifone POS systems, retail technology, or multi-site organizations.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar industry certifications.
