Professional Liability Attorney - Los Angeles, CA
Firm:
Founded 40+ years ago, this is a national litigation law firm, with over 200 attorneys, that provides legal services to businesses, insurance companies, and other organizations across a wide range of industries.
Role:
The successful candidate will represent professionals, professional service firms, businesses, insurers, and other clients in complex professional liability disputes. The attorney will handle matters involving allegations of professional negligence, malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, errors and omissions, and other claims arising from the provision of professional services.
Responsibilities:
- Represent professionals and professional service firms in civil litigation involving allegations of negligence, malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and professional misconduct.
- Defend claims involving attorneys, accountants, architects, engineers, insurance brokers, real estate professionals, consultants, and other licensed or regulated professionals, as applicable to the firm's practice.
- Draft and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and other discovery requests.
- Conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.
- Research and draft motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, motions in limine, and other dispositive or procedural motions.
- Prepare persuasive legal briefs, memoranda, and written submissions for state and federal court proceedings.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission and good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Approximately 3+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in professional liability defense, insurance defense, complex civil litigation, or commercial litigation.
- Experience drafting pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, legal memoranda, and litigation reports.
- Familiarity with civil procedure, evidence, negligence principles, professional standards of care, and applicable liability defenses.
Compensation/Benefits:
- Base Salary: $150-200k+, commensurate with experience.
- Additional Compensation: Annual performance-based bonus.
