Laboratory Scientist - PRMC Clovis, (1302) Responsibilities Schedule: Monday-Friday 1100-2030 with weekends, holidays, on-call, and other shifts as needed. Location: PRMC Clovis Salary/Hourly: Hourly Position Under general supervision, perform waived, moderate or high complexity laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease. Perform maintenance, basic troubleshooting and repairs of laboratory equipment. Run and evaluate quality control testing to ensure equipment is functional prior to patient testing. Assist with the implementation and oversight of waived point of care testing. Meet the qualifications for designation as “Testing Personnel” for moderate and high complexity testing under CLIA regulations. Perform essential functions related to laboratory testing, results documentation, QC/QA, and regulatory compliance. Assist with training of new staff and/or students; serve as a liaison with internal and external customers. Participate in the POCT oversight program (where applicable): training, troubleshooting, reviewing quality performance, and implementation/validation of waived testing. Collect specimens (e.g., blood, urine, sputum) and prepare them for analysis (where applicable). Minimum Qualifications Selected candidates will be placed into LS I, LS II, LS III, or LS IV based on education and experience. Laboratory Scientist I : Must meet one of the following per CLIA regulations: Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science; or Associate’s degree in laboratory science/medical laboratory technology; or equivalent education and training; or qualified as a technologist under CLIA regulations on or before Feb 28, 1992. No experience required. Laboratory Scientist II : Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science/medical technology with no experience required; or Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry with two years’ direct clinical laboratory experience; or Associate’s degree with two years’ direct clinical laboratory experience; or Two years’ direct clinical laboratory experience with equivalent education; or Other CLIA-equivalent combinations listed in the original posting. Laboratory Scientist III : Two years of Laboratory Scientist II at TriCore, or Bachelor’s degree in biology/chemistry with four years’ direct clinical laboratory experience, or Bachelor’s degree in clinical/medical laboratory science with two years’ direct clinical laboratory experience, or Other CLIA-equivalent combinations as listed in the original posting. Laboratory Scientist IV : Bachelor’s degree in clinical/medical laboratory science or biology/chemistry with four years’ direct clinical laboratory experience, or Bachelor’s degree in biology/chemistry with four years’ direct clinical laboratory experience. PREFERENCES: ASCP or AMT certification as listed, or ADLM Certification in POCT, or ACHI certification as CHA/CHT/CHS, or NRCC Certification as applicable. Certification required for LS IV placement. IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: Prove immunity to Hepatitis B or be immunized, or sign a waiver refusing immunization. Provide documentation of a TB test conducted not more than 90 days prior to hire, or have a TB test conducted. IN DEPARTMENTS/LOCATIONS WITH DIRECT PATIENT CONTACT: Prove immunity or be eligible to receive rubella, rubeola, and varicella immunization.
