NP/PA - Radiation Oncology

Job Summary The role collaborates with residents, fellows, attendings, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care for outpatient clinic patients. The coordinator is supervised by the Medical Director or an approved staff physician and is responsible for primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning. Education Required (NP): Master’s degree in Nursing. Required (PA): Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program. Work Experience Required: None. Preferred: 3 years of related working experience. Certifications Required (NP): Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice; Family or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner certified by ANCC or AANPCP; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)/Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association; Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice. Required (PA): License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice, NCCPA certified; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)/Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association; Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and role‑specific software packages. Strong interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at the department and campus/system levels. Reliable transportation; ability to travel between facilities. Flexible work schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability). Job Duties Utilize the approved medical practices process for all patient care. Provide care based on physical, psycho‑social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to patient age groups. Maintain an attitude of inquiry toward medical practices, evaluating outcomes, and may develop research methodology. Provide education to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community. Adapt communication style to the specific patient population, ensuring privacy and appropriate explanation of services and procedures. Perform other related duties as required. Physical & Environmental Demands Medium work – exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demands exceed those of sedentary work; may involve continuous pushing or pulling, walking or standing, or working at a production‑rate pace. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, and have manual dexterity. Duties involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and communicable diseases; risk level increases with certain duties.
