Registered Nurse In Medical Surgery Unit

As a Registered Nurse in our Medical Surgery Unit with telemetry experience, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. You will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, including physicians, surgeons, and other nursing staff, to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing medical and surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and evidence-based nursing care to patients in the Medical Surgery Unit, with a focus on those requiring telemetry monitoring.
• Utilize telemetry equipment to continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, identifying any abnormalities and taking prompt action when necessary.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, document patient information accurately, and maintain up-to-date medical records. Report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, route, and patient education.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, including physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care plans to promote optimal health outcomes.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean patient care environment.
• Respond effectively to emergencies, including code situations, by following established protocols and providing appropriate nursing care.
• Stay current with advances in nursing practice, attend continuing education programs, and actively participate in departmental meetings and training.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Med Surg/Tele RN 13 week assignment 36 hrs 12 hr nights, 7p-7:30a with an every other weekend/holiday rotation AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, & NIHSS required Active NY license Minimum of 2 yrs current Med Surg/Tele experience Must be willing to float when needed within scope of practice ASAP start
