Radiation Oncology Technician AssistantInova Fair Oaks Hospital Radiation Therapy is looking for a dedicated Radiation Oncology Technician Assistant to join the team. This role will be part-time day-shift working Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am - 5:30pm located in Fairfax, VA.The Radiation Oncology Technician Assistant assists in the planning procedures for initial patient set-up. We are also proud to be consistently recognized as a top employer in both the D.C. metro area and the nation.Featured Benefits:Committed to Team Member Health: offering medical, dental and vision coverage, and a robust team member wellness program.Retirement: Inova matches the first 5% of eligible contributions – starting on your first day.Tuition and Student Loan Assistance: offering up to $5,250 per year in education assistance and up to $10,000 for student loans.Mental Health Support: offering all Inova team members, their spouses/partners, and their children 25 mental health coaching or therapy sessions, per person, per year, at no cost.Work/Life Balance: offering paid time off, paid parental leave, flexible work schedules.Radiation Oncology Technician Assistant Responsibilities:Assists therapist and physicians in the preparation of immobilization devices.Assists with patient positioning activities on the simulator and/or Computed Tomography (CT) machine; Assists in moving/positioning patients in preparation of delivery of radiation therapy.Processes/develops X-ray and/or CT films for treatment planning; Process/develops portal verification films as required.Fabricates Cerrobend blocks from X-ray films for radiation treatments, medical records and chart rounding preparations.Prepares new patient therapy records; Pulls pertinent patient records, reports and films for review at weekly chart rounds.Logs and maintains films and records ordered from outside offices.Retrieves and charts clinical laboratory results.Obtains vital signs and records results.Assists nurses and physicians with patient examinations.Maintains inventory of equipment and is responsible for transporting equipment to and from operating rooms and sterile processing.Observes patients for unusual reactions, behaviors and/or events and reports occurrences to Radiation Therapists or physicians.May perform additional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School or GEDCertification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.Preferred Qualifications:Previous patient care experience preferred.Previous experience working with oncology patients preferred.
