MRI Technologist

Salem Health - Hospital

Position Type: Part Time, 24 hours/week, Non-Exempt Your role with us As an MRI technologist at West Valley Hospital, part of the Salem Health system, you'll play an essential role in delivering advanced diagnostic imaging services to patients in the close-knit community of Dallas. Our imaging services support inpatient and emergency department needs 24/7, with outpatient imaging services operating Monday through Friday and occasional weekend coverage. This role offers the opportunity to work in a smaller hospital environment where teamwork, collaboration, and patient-centered care are at the heart of everything we do. With no on-call requirements, manageable patient volumes, and a supportive team structure, you'll have the ability to focus on delivering an exceptional patient experience while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. As an MRI technologist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging that directly supports patient care and clinical decision-making. You will operate advanced Siemens MRI equipment in a fast-paced yet supportive environment while ensuring safety, accuracy, and compassion in every exam. During West Valley Hospital's imaging department expansion and upgrades, MRI services are currently being performed in a mobile imaging unit, providing an opportunity to be part of an evolving and growing imaging program. You'll work alongside another MRI technologist for the majority of each shift, with only limited independent coverage, and benefit from the support of an engaged imaging leadership team, including an on-site lead technologist available most days. Together, the MRI team completes approximately 13-14 exams daily, allowing for meaningful patient interaction and attention to quality care. You'll also become part of a collaborative imaging department of approximately 25 team members who value professionalism, communication, flexibility, and continuous learning. In this role, you'll partner closely with radiologists, providers, nurses, and fellow imaging professionals to ensure every patient receives safe, efficient, and compassionate care in a welcoming, family-oriented team atmosphere. What you'll do Operate MRI equipment and perform routine care, cleaning, and maintenance while reporting any malfunctions promptly. Utilize Radiant (RIS), PACS, and EPIC systems to manage patient history, imaging workflow, orders, and charges. Perform MRI exams according to established protocols while adapting techniques based on patient condition, anatomy, and clinical need. Optimize imaging parameters to ensure high-quality diagnostic images with efficient scan times. Review exam completeness and obtain additional images or patient history as needed for diagnostic accuracy. Complete detailed exam documentation, including patient history, symptoms, and technical factors used. Adhere strictly to MRI safety protocols, including ALARA principles and department safety guidelines. Support medication reconciliation processes and maintain competency with Omnicell systems. Provide age-appropriate, compassionate care across all patient populations, adjusting communication and approach as needed. Contribute to a safe, organized, and efficient imaging department while supporting additional duties as assigned. Required qualifications Credentialed in radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI, OR the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (AMRIT) in MRI.
