Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Iowa-licensed Anesthesiologists for a locum tenens assignment at a regional hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. This opportunity involves providing anesthesia services across a busy surgical department with a variety of cases, including obstetric, pediatric, and general anesthesia, with some supervision.

Opportunity Highlights

• Anesthesiologist locum tenens position at a community hospital
• Schedule: Starting June 29, ongoing; Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Call coverage: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd call shifts; night and weekend call rotations
• No outpatient clinic work involved
• OB and pediatric anesthesia cases, including tonsil and adenoid procedures
• EMR: EPIC (anticipated upgrade to May 2025)

Schedule Details

• Start: June 29, ongoing
• Shifts: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Night call: Every 3–4 days, 7 days per week, includes overtime pay
• Weekend call: Call only, schedule varies; approximately 75% of first calls require clinician to respond

Clinical Scope

• Providing general anesthesia for diverse surgical cases, including obstetric and pediatric cases
• OB: Yes, including TOLAC
• Pediatrics: Yes, primarily tonsils and adenoids
• Managing conscious sedation as needed
• Supervision: Some cases involve supervision of CRNA colleagues
• Procedures: General anesthesia, OB, pediatric cases, conscious sedation
• Excludes cardiac and neurosurgical procedures

Requirements

• Valid Iowa medical license with active privileges
• MD degree from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
• ACLS and BLS certification
• Ability to work scheduled dates and call shifts as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OB anesthesia, pediatric cases, and conscious sedation
• Prior coverage in a hospital setting with EPIC EMR system
