Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides specialized perioperative nursing care in a surgical setting, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes. The role involves teamwork, technical expertise, and adherence to clinical protocols during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Administer perioperative nursing care to patients scheduled for surgery, ensuring compliance with sterile techniques and safety standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to prepare and coordinate surgical procedures.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to any intraoperative changes or emergencies.
• Maintain detailed documentation of patient status, surgical procedures, and postoperative care in the electronic medical record system.
• Assist with sterile instrument setup, equipment management, and intraoperative instrument counts.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide support during unscheduled surgeries or emergencies.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid WV or Compact RN license; pending licenses accepted.
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of OR nursing.
• Hold American Heart Association ACLS and BLS certifications; PALS if required by the unit.
• Demonstrate proficiency in surgical nursing procedures and sterile techniques.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, with excellent communication skills.
• Meet minimum education and clinical competency standards as specified by facility.
