Inpatient Hospitalist - Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology

Position Summary

Boston Medical Center and Boston University Medical School seek a clinician to serve as a Hospitalist on the Inpatient Hematology/Oncology teaching service. The successful candidate must be board‑certified or board‑eligible in internal medicine; additional certification in hematology/oncology is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as attending physician on the inpatient hematology/oncology service for 36 weeks annually.
• Supervise a 10‑patient or 16‑patient service staffed by residents and interns from the Boston University School of Medicine internal medicine residency program.
• Provide acute care to hospitalized oncology patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of complications.
• Participate in the didactic training of residents and the education of medical students.
• Serve as service attending Monday through Friday; weekend duties are shared with other faculty.
• Engage in collaborative research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes, safety, and workflow efficiency.
• Mentor junior faculty and residents aligned with professional interests.

Qualifications

• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., ABIM board certification in internal medicine.
• Demonstrated interest and ability to provide acute care to hospitalized oncology patients.
• Licensed or able to obtain a medical license in the State of Massachusetts.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Passion for excellence in patient care and teaching in an academic inpatient hospital setting.
