Staff Equipment Engineer

Staff Equipment Engineer Role and Responsibilities: Support equipment across diverse manufacturing lines with varying complexity. Diagnose and repair manufacturing equipment. Automated Equipment: Provide support for PLC and HMI programming, including motion and servo control systems. Modify existing control logic to improve safety, performance, or throughput. Participate in commissioning of new automated equipment and ensure proper device operation. Install, commission, and support vision systems for tracking and quality inspections. Conduct engineering tasks in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems for testing, material handling, welding, and machining equipment. Oversee equipment installation, start‑up, and implementation projects. Develop equipment specifications and documentation for manufacturing, assembly, testing, and material handling processes. Manage project timelines, financial planning, and prepare comprehensive status reports for leadership. Collaborate with vendors, facility engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to manage project implementation. Identify opportunities to enhance safety, reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase quality. Prepare or approve system as‑built drawings. Work flexible hours, including off‑shifts and weekends, as required. Skills and Experience BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 5+ years in Manufacturing or Equipment Engineering. Experience troubleshooting automated equipment and systems. Functional knowledge of PLCs, low‑voltage controls, three‑phase power distribution, industrial control panels, electronic sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Equipment requirement development and specification writing. Knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards. Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office suite. Strong communication skills (written and public speaking). Physical Requirements Ability to stand or walk for up to 4 hours per shift. Traverse stairs and navigate the facility throughout the day. Occasionally lift or carry up to 15 pounds. Visual acuity sufficient for product inspection, computer editing, and review of digital or printed materials. Hearing ability to detect alarms and communicate effectively with staff. Ability to perform essential tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
