Engine Controls Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement air charge temperature estimation, turbocharger speed and boost pressure control, wastegate and bypass valve logic, and compressor surge or overspeed protection.
• Develop and validate C-based control algorithms against functional, emissions, performance, and functional-safety requirements.
• Apply unit testing, SIL, MIL, and HIL validation methods to ensure software functionality and robustness.
• Develop and maintain plant models for turbocharger dynamics, intake manifold thermodynamics, and charge air cooler systems.
• Troubleshoot air-path functional and diagnostic issues using data analysis, vehicle testing, and simulation.
• Maintain software descriptions, calibration guides, release notes, and requirements traceability.
• Lead control-system project planning and program management across multiple vehicle programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, or a related field, or foreign-equivalent degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 2 years of C software development experience in automotive powertrain systems.
• Preferred experience with turbocharger or supercharger boost control, wastegate control, air-charge management, intake manifold dynamics, charge air cooler modeling, or compressor and turbine map-based controls.
• Preferred familiarity with OBD-II diagnostics, ISO 26262 Part 6, MISRA-C, Jira, Jama, Unity/Ceedling, GitHub, and ClearCase.
• Preferred 5+ years of embedded control software and design experience.
