Registered Nurse RN

Provide compassionate, direct nursing care within the Eating Disorders Program Complete nursing assessments and obtain relevant medical history Measure, monitor, and document vital signs and other clinical indicators Obtain and document patient weights according to program protocols Monitor for medical instability and elevate concerns to providers and the interdisciplinary treatment team Monitor and communicate laboratory results and other medical findings Collect specimens as ordered Support assessment of medical status with Psychiatry Providers and Registered Dietitians Recognize and communicate psychiatric symptom observations relevant to eating-disorder treatment Administer medications safely and accurately Assist with prescription refills and medication prior authorizations Monitor medication concerns, side effects, and patient responses Provide nursing support during meals and snacks as assigned Support patients experiencing distress or acute symptoms related to eating Collaborate on nutritional concerns, meal support, medical monitoring, and patient-status changes Assist with individualized treatment plans within scope of practice Support safe transitions between levels of care Provide therapeutic communication, education, and support to patients and families Participate in interdisciplinary communication and rounds Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation Assist with laboratory orders, results retrieval, discharge, and aftercare planning Coordinate with outpatient providers as appropriate Provide phone triage and determine when concerns require follow-up, consultation, or urgent intervention Provide support during crisis or emergency situations and follow escalation protocols Order and stock supplies and support medication inventory and safety procedures Participate in training, supervision, consultation, quality improvement, compliance monitoring, and organizational committees Contribute to program standards and clinical workflow improvements Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois (required) Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification (required) Minimum of 1 year of hospital or clinical nursing experience (required) Experience in behavioral health or eating-disorder treatment (required) BSN (preferred); LPN candidates may be considered where appropriate Experience in PHP, IOP, residential, inpatient, or other higher-acuity behavioral healthcare settings (preferred) Excellent therapeutic communication skills Compassionate, nonjudgmental, patient-centered care approach Comfortable working in a behavioral-health environment and supporting patients experiencing significant emotional distress Comfortable monitoring medically vulnerable patients and escalating concerns promptly Ability to recognize the interaction between psychiatric symptoms and medical/nutritional concerns Comfortable collaborating with Registered Dietitians, therapists, prescribers, and other clinical disciplines Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail Appropriate professional boundaries and therapeutic relationship skills Cultural humility and respect for individual patient experiences Ability to work within established clinical protocols, program standards, and treatment-team recommendations Willingness to seek supervision and consultation when appropriate Demonstrates expertise in providing compassionate nursing care within eating disorder treatment, including conducting assessments, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Proficient in therapeutic communication, medication administration, and supporting patients through crisis situations while adhering to clinical protocols.
