Screw Machine Setup/Operator

Job Duties

Sets up screw machine according to lay-out, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

· Loads stock reel by lifting stock into position; verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to customer specifications.

· Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, and knurling; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

Follow established quality procedures, documentation, and safety guidelines in a fast‑paced production environment.

Support quick changeovers and efficient production flow to meet customer delivery expectations.

Minimum Education Required

High School/GED Required

Associated/Certificate a Plus

Minimum Experience Required

This position can be entry level for the right candidate.

3+ years experience operating and setting up multi-spindle screw machine. (Acme Gridley & New Britain)

Strong blueprint reading, along with solid shop math skills.

Ability to hold tolerances in a production environment.

Comfort working in a smaller, team‑oriented shop where versatility and reliability matter.

Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing the job right the first time.
