The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing controls systems for Daikin's cutting-edge HVAC equipment. Under direct supervision, you will collaborate with project teams, design detailed controls systems, program control sequences and ensure systems operate efficiently and effectively to meet the environmental needs of various customers. Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!Location: Staunton, VA – On-siteYour Responsibilities:Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scopeUnder supervision, give limited advice and analyze information within a specific function for others within the organizationUnder the close guidance of experienced engineers, evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the companyIdentify and procure materials needed to construct prototypes and participate in the design engineering of new modelsSupport the planning and development of test programs for prototypesAnalyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specificationsAssist in analyzing, evaluating, sourcing, and coordinating the procurement of new materials and components to support model changesWith direction, analyze, evaluate, and recommend cost improvement ideas through product, vendor, and design changesPerform technical analysis of competitive productsProvide support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer literatureProvide support to manufacturing to implement controls systems in manufactured productsYour Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experienceAbility to work cooperatively and effectively with laboratory, design, and product marketing teamsAbility to effectively coordinate and communicate with vendors to perform work and services relating to mechanical/electrical facility systemsPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, or related fieldUnderstanding of HVAC equipment and componentsAbility to read an electrical schematicExposure to fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, electrical and power measurements, and analog/digital data acquisitionFormal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materialsProgramming experienceYour Benefits:Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance401K retirement plan with employer matchPaid time off and company-paid holidaysPaid sick time in accordance with the federal, state and local lawTuition Reimbursement after 6 months of continuous serviceWork visa sponsorship is not available for this positionThe typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,000-$124,300 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls.
