Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Centralized Scheduler to serve as a vital connection between our patients, providers, and clinical departments. Position Summary:

As a Centralized Scheduler, you will play a key role in ensuring patients receive timely, coordinated care by scheduling appointments and procedures, verifying insurance coverage, assisting with pre-registration, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the scheduling process.

This position supports multiple departments, including Cardiopulmonary, Coumadin Clinic, Surgery, Acute Care, and Outpatient Clinics, helping patients navigate their healthcare journey with confidence and ease.

What You'll Do

• Schedule and pre-register patients for procedures, tests, and appointments across multiple departments.
• Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls while providing exceptional customer service to patients, providers, insurance carriers, and healthcare partners.
• Process referrals and work them through completion to ensure patients receive timely care.
• Verify insurance eligibility, obtain required authorizations, and gather accurate demographic and financial information.
• Calculate and communicate estimated out-of-pocket expenses to patients.
• Provide appointment instructions and preparation information to patients.
• Monitor schedules to prevent resource conflicts and support efficient patient flow.
• Ensure compliance with medical necessity requirements and applicable federal and state guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff regarding scheduling updates and appointment status.
• Identify patients who may benefit from financial assistance and connect them with appropriate resources.
• Document all patient interactions accurately and process incoming records and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with clinical staff to ensure accurate exam and procedure information is obtained and entered.

Requirements

Minimum Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma with two years of progressively responsible work experience. Working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Previous working experience working in electronic health systems (Meditech Expanse preferred). Certification as Certified Healthcare Access Associate through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management is highly desired.

Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination, Covid-19 vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit to a tuberculosis screening process.
