Health & Joy Services is a Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) Home and Community Based Services Medicaid Waiver provider. We are currently providing Community Living Services through Supportive Living, In-Home Supports, Individualized Day Support, Companion, Clinical Services, Respite Care, and Assistive Technology Services. Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of the healthcare team at Health and Joy Services (HAJS). The RN provides direct nursing care, coordinates health services, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. This contractor position involves collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD/DD). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide nursing care by the Nursing Practice Act, state regulations, and facility policies. Coordinate care, conduct assessments, and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. Monitor and act on changes in the conditions of persons supported to ensure their health and safety. Oversee and guide Trained Medication Employees (TMEs) to ensure compliance with medication administration protocols and proper documentation. Manage and update health documents, including Health Passports, Health Care Management Plans (HCMPs), and other relevant records. Review and update the Electronic Health Record (EHR) information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards. Dispense medications as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to DDS health and wellness policies. Train persons supported, staff, and caregivers on healthcare needs, including medication administration, basic healthcare procedures, and safety protocols. Follow protocols for the safe disposal of biohazardous materials. Communicate effectively with coordinators, healthcare providers, persons supported, and their families. Handle and manage medical and adaptive equipment, reporting any issues or needs for repair. Perform physical tasks, including lifting, stooping, and bending. Continuously seek educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and maintain certifications. Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and organizational standards. Qualifications Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited College of Nursing. Current nursing license for practice in the District of Columbia and a compact/state nursing license to practice in other expanding states, such as Virginia (VA) and Maryland (MD). Experience: Minimum of one year of as-needed clinical experience, preferably in IDD/DD services or related fields. Experience working with HCBS waiver services and familiarity with DC IDD/DD regulations preferred. Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification. Additional specialty certifications such as PALS, ACLS, or NRP are preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Developmental Disability Nurse (CDDN) certification. Three years of experience working with IDD/DD populations. Physical and Sensory Requirements Must be able to perform the job's essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including assessing and supporting the health and well-being of persons supported. Must be capable of performing physical tasks related to care, such as lifting or moving the persons supported and their equipment.

$45,000 - $65,000 per year
