Director of AI Engineering

As a hands-on engineering leader, the full-time remote Director of AI Engineering will design, build, and deploy AI-native systems, managing a small team of engineers to enhance operational efficiency across the organization. Key responsibilities Design, build, harden, and deploy end-to-end AI solutions from problem scoping to production code Own and prioritize the AI automation roadmap, identifying high-leverage opportunities within internal operations Lead a team of engineers as a player-coach, ensuring high code quality and rapid delivery of AI-first solutions Required qualifications Strong foundation in software engineering, including system design, deployment, and the full software development lifecycle Hands-on experience with AI technologies such as RAG pipelines, vector databases, and LLM orchestration Proven track record of building and deploying AI-powered systems that deliver measurable operational improvements Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and translate feedback into actionable requirements Experience in leading small technical teams, including hiring, onboarding, and developing engineers
