Production Lead - 3rd Shift

Position Summary This position is responsible for helping with set up the production and mixing schedule, assisting with workflow processes, and participating on project teams relating to work group. This position assists Value Stream Team Leaders with activities and fills in on the production floor when needed. Essential Functions Set up production schedule board, and coordinate workflow Operate equipment, when needed Utilize computer to access specifications, enter quality data and print specifications Train and assist team members as needed Participate on project teams to improve the work area Assist team members with processing and quality problems and issues Participate in first response safety activities and undergo associated trainings Initiate incident reports and follow reporting procedure Ability to work overtime as required, including extended shifts & weekends, to meet business needs. Perform all job duties as assigned by leadership Demonstrate knowledge and ability to form and lead teams within a manufacturing environment Escalate appropriate concerns and issues to leadership Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately. Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs. Department Specific / Non-essential Functions Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S. Participate on project teams, star point teams and kaizen events when needed. Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role Qualifications Education High School diploma or GED preferred Experience Previous experience in manufacturing preferred Preferred Skills/Qualifications Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills Sound decision making skills Good math, reading and writing skills Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention Skills/Competencies Basic computer skills Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail Must be able to operate material handling equipment and hoist, if needed Physical Requirements Ability to operate material handling equipment Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures Other Skills Ability to work well in a team environment Assessment Employee must successfully complete Pre-employment screening Organizational Relationships / Scope Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment Working Conditions The employee may be subject to: High noise levels from operating machines and equipment Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels Exposure to nuisance fumes Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing) Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.
