Senior Counsel, Head of Government Contracts @ Impulse Space

Unlocking Access Beyond Low Earth Orbit Enabling the Next Era of In-Space Transportation Impulse Space is seeking a Senior Counsel, Head of Government Contracts, to serve as the company's in-house expert on U.S. government and defense contracting. This senior role is central to Impulse's mission of advancing in-space transportation, providing strategic legal counsel across the full lifecycle of government programs. The Senior Counsel will advise executives and cross-functional teams on all aspects of government contracts and subcontracts, including prime and subcontractor relationships. Responsibilities include interpreting and applying FAR, DFARS, and related regulations; negotiating complex agreements; managing compliance obligations; and supporting contract performance, modifications, and disputes. The role also involves developing scalable processes and training, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and managing outside counsel for specialized matters. Candidates should bring a J.D. from an accredited law school, active U.S. bar membership, and at least 10 years of government contracts law experience, with 5+ years in aerospace or defense. Deep knowledge of government contracting principles, strong business judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership are essential. Experience supporting defense or national security programs in the space sector is highly valued.
