Assistant Store Manager

Position Summary:Schmitt Music is seeking an Assistant Manager for our Rochester, MN location. This position is a crucial advocate for Schmitt Music and the local community. With a blend of business savvy, a passion for music and the desire to help others succeed, this position leads their team to provide BRAVO customer service and drives sales help fulfill our mission: Enriching lives by helping people make music.Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Assist Manager in developing a competent sales team that is engaged in the sales process and driven to succeed while keeping the customer experience and perception of the company at the forefront of any interaction.Assist in supervision and oversee the training and development of sales associates.Understand policies and proceduresEnsure store appearance and cleanliness meet expectations.Product displays in compliance with company specificationsAssure that product ready to sell- clean, acceptable packaging, with accurate signage and pricingExcellent customer service skills, face-to-face and phone interactionsContact Management cases are complete, and customers are contacted.Educational Representative (Road Rep)Make calls on area schools on 1-2 days per week.Strategically develops and maintains relationships with music directors.Provide excellent customer service.Sell instruments, music, accessories and repair services to assigned districts.Maintain and develop instrumental programs.Assure that inventory is properly maintained and accurately accounted for at all times.Attend and work events that take place during evenings and weekends.Promote Schmitt Music through community outreach and engagement activities.Maintain records of customer and prospect information for follow up.Assist in planning sales promotions and clinics. Promote sales by properly completing and maintaining displays and signage.Other duties as assigned and based on the needs of the business.Preferred Qualifications:Retail and supervisory management and sales experience.Knowledge of music products and instruments required. Band/orchestra or piano knowledge required.Proven success in developing individuals and positively coaching workplace teams.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.Superior organizational and follow-up skills to ensure responsibilities and goals are met within defined deadlines.Detail oriented and ability to prioritize work while under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Effective and efficient knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs required.Limited travel.Ability to work retail hours including evenings and weekends.Prior retail management experience or retail store ownership experienceValid Driver’s License and background check required.Desired Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Music Education, Business, or related field.1-3 years professional outside sales experience.Physical Demands and Work Environment:Retail and/or office-type working conditions. Daily driving and visiting schools/outside venues approximately 33%+ of work time.The responsibilities of this position may frequently require using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. This position may often involve standing, walking and sitting. This position may sometimes involve climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The ability to taste or smell is not a demand for this position.
