Shop Service Technician

Shop Service TechnicianHeritage Industries, a leader in the work truck and equipment industry, is currently seeking a Shop Service Technician. This person will perform in-shop service calls and repairs to client work trucks and equipment. Strong communication skills and customer relations, diagnostic/troubleshooting and repair skills, ownership of client issues, and ability to take ownership of jobs from start to finish are required. A strong, hands-on understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems is essential, as much of the equipment we service is built by a wide range of manufacturers with little to no documentation available.Duties and Responsibilities:Must understand and adhere to the personal responsibility of safety and work safely at all times. Adhere to all company safety programs and policies and enhance the safety culture of the company.Perform services and repairs in the shop on various makes/models of equipment, including Heritage, IMT, Stellar, Venturo, Miller, Mi-T-M, Boss, and others — cranes, welders, service bodies, compressors (screw and piston), PTOs, pumps and variable pumps, and Miller Enpaks.Perform diagnostics and repairs without the use of vehicle lifts; must be able to safely work in a variety of physical positions (kneeling, bending, reaching under or around equipment) to access components.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop bay and all company-provided tools and equipment.Provide a clear, accurate description of all parts needed to complete each repair so the supply chain team can order them.Schedule and maintain workload; must consistently follow and adhere to the assigned work schedule (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM).Perform DOT inspections on company and/or client vehicles and equipment as required.Maintain accurate daily timekeeping and thorough, high-quality technician notes/documentation on all diagnostics, repairs, and work performed, including daily reports, inspections, and timecards.Willing to obtain certifications: crane inspector certificate.Ability to work as a team, communicate effectively, and take ownership of assigned areas and tasks.Take ownership of client problems and provide solutions. Must consistently deliver world-class customer experience.Required Qualifications:Must be safety conscious with an excellent safety record. Must use TRACK in all aspects of every job.Strong working knowledge of truck equipment: hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatics is required, including the ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics and diagnose issues without OEM documentation.Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements and ability to perform DOT inspections on vehicles and equipment.Willingness to learn troubleshooting skills from other journeyman mechanics and utilize tech support as necessary.Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.Demonstrate excellent work ethic with self-motivation and the ability to work safely with minimal supervision, while maintaining expectations of thoroughness.Strong time management skills; must accurately track daily time and maintain detailed, high-quality technician notes on all work performed.Have a positive team-first attitude.Must have and maintain their own complete set of tools required for shop repair work.Ability to work in a shop bay without vehicle lifts, including kneeling, bending, and reaching to access components.Must be willing and able to work overtime, and possibly weekends if necessary.Ability and willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing environments.Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications:Experience within the work truck industry, automotive, and/or truck equipment upfit, service and repairs — the more industry-specific knowledge, the better.Experience with in-shop and/or field service operations.Experience with cranes (IMT, Stellar, Venturo, or similar), compressors, or variable pump systems.Understanding of CAN bus and J1939 systems is a huge plus.Welding skills are a plus.Associate degree or Technical Degree in automotive or diesel mechanics.Travel Requirements:Is Travel Required?
