Evaluates and treats patients who have difficulty performing daily tasks due to physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial conditions. Minimum Qualifications Current or temporary Occupational Therapist Licensure as required by the state where services will be performed (MD, OH, PA, WV). Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. Licensure details: MD: Occupational Therapist License or temporary license through Maryland Board. OH: License through Ohio Board. PA: License or temporary license through Pennsylvania Department of State. WV: License or limited permit through West Virginia Board. Core Duties and Responsibilities Provides coordinated and comprehensive patient care including assessment, expected outcomes, rehabilitation interventions and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team approach. Evaluates patient needs and develops and implements treatment programs to identify, prevent, and minimize physical disabilities and/or pain. Determines/revises priorities for direct/indirect patient care activities, collaborates with nursing to update algorithms for safe patient handling. Documents all treatments according to department policies and procedures. Submits accurate charges for services rendered using the billing system via the patient’s EMR. Performs oversight of COTAs, students, and volunteers. Participates in education and training of staff, students, patients, and family members. Specialty Accreditation Requirements Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards; training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation. Physical Requirements Minimize manually lifting patients; limit safe patient handling to 35 pounds; use lift equipment and patient handling aids. Work requires strength and stamina; lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, carrying equipment weighing 40+ lbs. Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Working Environment Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and various cleaning and laundry chemicals. Skills and Abilities Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and effectively meet work schedules.
