Actuarial Associate Trainee

About the Position Actuarial Associate Trainee – Pennsylvania Insurance Department, Insurance Actuary Review Division. This structured trainee position provides hands‑on training in limited and basic life, accident, and health actuarial analysis. You will develop technical competence in actuarial standards, Pennsylvania insurance laws, and data analysis while supporting the department’s statutory and regulatory responsibilities. Responsibilities Compile, analyze, and report insurance‑related data to determine compliance with statutory requirements. Review, approve or disapprove life, accident, and health rate and rule filings; prepare information for administrative hearings and court proceedings. Research Pennsylvania insurance statutes and regulations and apply findings to various insurance matters. Answer formal requests for specific information (Data Call Administration). Expand insurance and actuarial knowledge through seminars, webinars, literature, and other resources. Work Schedule and Benefits Full‑time employment, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch break. Telework: Part‑time telework (up to three days per week) is possible with a secured high‑speed internet connection and compliance with state telework guidelines. Salary: The starting salary may be non‑negotiable. Qualifications Associate degree with 12 college credits in actuarial science, data science, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field; or Completion of one part of the Society of Actuaries examination or Casualty Actuarial Society examination; or Equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in the aforementioned fields. Other Requirements Meet Pennsylvania residency requirements. Must be able to perform essential job functions.
