Senior Accountant Financial Reporting

Job Purpose Assists in the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting requirements of the company, which encompass both external (SEC-format) and internal management reporting. Participates in the overall consolidation and closing process for DNOW’s domestic and international legal entities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports. Prepare the annual (10-K), quarterly (10-Q), and periodic (8-K) reports required in SEC-format. Prepare financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and supporting schedules. Prepare Board of Directors and Board Committee materials. Assist with internal controls over financial reporting. Review and analyze GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Prepare internal management reports. Perform account reconciliations and prepare journal entries. Research appropriate accounting treatments for complex transactions/technical accounting issues. Establish excellent rapport with management, corporate employees, branch employees, vendors, and customers using written correspondence, proper phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills. Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job. Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others. Report workplace hazards, injuries, or illnesses immediately. Education, Experience & Ability Requirements Undergraduate degree in accounting. 3-5 years progressive accounting/finance experience. CPA qualification preferred. Background in a publicly traded company, especially in an SEC-heavy environment. Proven ability to develop relationships across departments and to work with global teams as both a leader and a participant. Proven ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks in an environment of changing priorities. Ability to contribute to the quality process by learning new procedures and functions within the department as needed. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of GAAP; able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, suggest alternatives, and drive positive change. Comprehensive familiarity with financial computer programs, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP/consolidation systems preferred (Oracle, Hyperion Financial Management, Enterprise Performance Management, Active Disclosure). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner. Additional Qualifications Must be able to provide documentation verifying legal work status. Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and respond to inquiries. Ability to understand and comply with DNOW Global guidelines & expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
