Critical Care Specialist

Tenure or Clinical Track Faculty Position in Critical Care Specialist The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University invites applications for a clinical or tenure track faculty position in small animal critical care. Applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree, be ACVECC or ECVECC board certified, or be eligible to take the certifying examination. The successful candidate will have autonomy over the critical care service and will work in conjunction with the Emergency/Urgent Care/ICU Service. This service includes 6 faculty members, 24 dedicated staff members (at least 9 credentialed veterinary technicians), and small animal rotating interns. The intensive care unit is approximately 1600 square feet and can accommodate 24 to 28 patients, with plans for an expansion to include a step‑down unit for less critical patients. The Veterinary Health Center is supported by board‑certified faculty in small‑animal medicine and surgery, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology (medical and radiation), zoological/exotics medicine and surgery, and diagnostic imaging. Collaborative research opportunities are readily available through the department, hospital, and broader college community. Responsibilities Directed clinical service will include delivery of critical care services to small animal patients in the Veterinary Health Center. Teaching responsibilities include instruction of veterinary students and interns in clinical rounds and didactic lectures. The faculty member will supervise service‑dedicated staff and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team for comprehensive patient care. Qualifications Applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree, be ACVECC or ECVECC board certified, or be eligible to take the certifying examination. The candidate should demonstrate experience in small animal critical care, strong teaching skills, and a commitment to collaborative practice.
